Joseph S. Beeson was recently named “Lawyer of the Year” for his work in Mass Tort Litigation/Class Actions – Defendants in Charleston, W.V. by Best Lawyers. This accolade is particularly significant because only one lawyer in each practice area in each metro area is honored with this prominent award, which is based on exhaustive peer-review assessments.

E. Glenn Robinson, a founding partner of Robinson & McElwee, passed away on February 28. Mr. Robinson, a native of Charleston, founded Robinson & McElwee in 1983 with seven other partners. Since the firm’s inception, he saw the firm double in size and expand to include three West Virginia offices. “Glenn will be greatly missed, but his legacy and commitment to legal excellence and outstanding client service continues to thrive at Robinson & McElwee,” said Kent J. George, managing member of the firm.

The Harrison County Chamber of Commerce appointed Robinson & McElwee member Jeffrey A. Kimble to its Board of Directors on Wednesday. Mr. Kimble will serve the Board of Directors for a one-year term effective immediately. Mr. Kimble, who joined Robinson & McElwee in 1992, is primarily involved in commercial and corporate defense and litigation at the trial and appellate levels, with a particular focus on property-related litigation.

Robinson & McElwee PLLC announced the addition of Marsha W. Kauffman and W. Bradley Sorrells as its newest members on Wednesday. Ms. Kauffman, a member of the firm’s Energy & Environment and Litigation departments, practices with a focus in the areas of environmental law, general litigation and public utility law. Mr. Sorrells serves the firm’s Business Law and Litigation departments with a focus on real estate, commercial litigation, and bankruptcy matters.

Robinson & McElwee, PLLC announced today that Brian E. Calabrese has joined the firm as an associate.

Mr. Calabrese will work in Robinson & McElwee’s Charleston office in the Business Law Department, with a concentration in the firm’s public utility practice, representing clients before the Public Service Commission of West Virginia, other regulatory agencies, and state and federal courts.

Robinson & McElwee’s E. Ryan Kennedy was recently named to serve as an initial member of the treatment team for the newly formed Harrison County Juvenile Drug Court. The Juvenile Drug Court program is a cooperative effort comprised of the juvenile justice, social service, law enforcement, and education systems in West Virginia. The program seeks to divert non-violent juvenile offenders exhibiting alcohol or substance abuse behavior from the traditional court process to an intensive, individualized treatment program, which includes parental involvement and cooperation.

Edward J. George, recently named a Board Member to the Utilities, Telecommunications and Energy Coalition of West Virginia, addressed the West Virginia Trucking Association on Thursday.

Mr. George was elected a board member to UTEC earlier in the week before delivering an address at the annual meeting for the WV Trucking Association. Mr. George presented with regard to legal response to accidents and working with law enforcement investigators and reconstructions.

Robinson & McElwee is expanding its presence in The Mountain State with the opening of its Wheeling office, marking its third office in the state.

The new office, which will be managed by West Virginia and Ohio licensed attorney, Lisa M. Schmitt, will support clients working in exploration of the Marcellus and Utica shale plays in West Virginia and Ohio, with particular focus on mineral title certification.
